Kate and Gary
Buschelman

Gary and Kate Buschelman have called Reston, VA, home for the past 27 years. Local involvement has been a priority as they have grown strong roots in our community. Active members of St. Thomas a Becket Catholic Church, Gary and Kate first learned about Cornerstones through church food distribution events. But their relationship with our organization took off in 2016 when a fellow congregant invited Gary to hear Kerrie Wilson, CEO of Cornerstones, discuss how homelessness profoundly impacts our community. Listening to Kerrie’s passion for supporting community members in need with dignity and her recall of the stats on people experiencing homelessness in Northern Virginia inspired Gary to increase his donations to Cornerstones. Now, as one of Cornerstones’ largest annual donors, Gary continues actively supporting our mission driven work. “I like to say that we can’t have capitalism without altruism. We are our brother’s keeper and I feel it is my responsibility to help individual and families in the community where I live.” "Great achievements in our community are only made possible through the commitment of great donors and advocates, like Gary and Kate Buschelman," notes Kerrie Wilson, CEO of Cornerstones. "Their investment in the well-being of our community is making a lasting, tangible difference. Thanks to generous donors like Gary and Kate, Cornerstones can continue providing holistic, integrated services and programs to help people achieve self-sufficiency and build more stable and healthier lives. Our donors' valuable support is truly life-changing in our community!"
