Cornerstones is excited to celebrate the ribbon cutting and much-anticipated opening of Fairfax Crest! Known as “The Crest,” this new affordable housing community on the Fairfax County Government Center campus offers individuals and families a place to put down roots, connect with neighbors, and thrive.
Developed through a partnership among the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA), Lincoln Avenue Communities, and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, The Crest transforms underutilized parking lots into a welcoming, walkable neighborhood. A public ground lease makes county-owned land available for affordable housing—a powerful example of saying “yes” to housing in our own front yard.
The Crest also offers 15,000 square foot ground floor, creating opportunity for Cornerstones to have an on-site presence within the community.
Cornerstones’ role centers on community support and community building: helping residents form connections, access support, and create a foundation for their families to thrive. Our programs will provide a welcoming place for youth to learn, connect, explore their interests, and build skills, with opportunities for academic support, leadership development, creative and recreational activities, and career and college exploration.
This unique community offers dwelling units for families earning approximately 30–70% of the area median income. This will include a high representation of female-headed and racially and ethnically diverse households. Many families face transportation barriers and may work extended hours, making access to safe, enriching after-school opportunities challenging.
The Crest brings together affordable homes, shared spaces, and convenient access to everyday needs, including:
279 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for income-qualified households, including ADA-accessible homes.
Spaces that bring neighbors together, including accessible play areas, resident lounges, courtyards, and multipurpose rooms.
A community-serving facility designed to bring together licensed childcare, after-school programs, wellness resources, and spaces for learning and career growth.
Nearby services, shopping, and dining, including public services, events, and civic amenities at the Government Center, along with Fair Oaks Mall, Costco, Target, and grocery stores.
Opportunities to get outdoors, with nearby parks, walking trails, and recreation options.
Transportation connections through multiple Fairfax Connector bus routes, connections to the Vienna/Fairfax–GMU Metro Station, and access to I-66, Route 50, and Fairfax County Parkway—helping residents reach jobs, schools, and destinations throughout the Washington, D.C., region.
We’re excited to help turn these new homes into a connected community, supporting students and families so they can build upon housing stability and ultimately thrive!
