Given the recent storms and heat wave, Reston Interfaith wants to share the latest status and contact information for key community programs. Consistent with the values and practice of Reston Interfaith staff we are working to coordinate as effectively as possible with other housing and safety net organizations in the region.
Needs for Gifts in Kind are noted below for the Embry Rucker Community Shelter and Emergency and Self-Sufficiency Services Program. However, cash contributions converted into gift cards for groceries are crucial. All those who lost power also lost perishable items. As power is restored gradually, residents in need will have to replenish their perishable items. Distribution of gift cards to those who qualify will allow the most efficient, prioritized and helpful response by agencies working with residents who lost power and continue to face the heat.
