Cornerstones accepts a limited number of volunteers seeking community service hours for court related matters. Individuals who are charged with or convicted of a traffic or criminal matter, including those hoping to accumulate good-faith hours pre-court may be accepted on a case-by-case basis after being interviewed by a Volunteer and Community Engagement Staff Member. Only those whose offense is related to a non-violent misdemeanor may qualify. Individuals must have availability for a minimum of one 2-hour shift any day(s) Monday – Friday between 7:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Prior to serving at Cornerstones, all court-related volunteers must:
- Identify themselves as a volunteer seeking court-related hours and specify the number of hours needed with the due date to a Volunteer and Community Engagement Staff Member.
- Send in all court referral documents to a Volunteer and Community Engagement Staff Member.
- Pay a $50 administrative fee.
- Recognize that volunteer opportunities are typically limited to maintenance work at the Embry Rucker Community Shelter with our Building Manager.
Court-related volunteers must keep a record of their hours using an official Cornerstones volunteer log provided at the Embry Rucker Community Shelter. Individuals who break volunteer protocol and/or are found tampering with their hours will be removed from service and no documentation of service will be provided.
