Food Security Forum Recap: Big Ideas. Inspiring Connections. A Community Ready to Act.

September 15th, Cornerstones held our first Food Security Forum to kick off the Abundant Harvest Season campaign starting during September’s Hunger Action Month and carrying through the end of November.

We were delighted at the turnout in attendance from our community—roughly 150 neighbors filled the seats at the Leila Gordon Theater at the Reston Community Center. Thank you for showing up with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to helping our neighbors thrive!

Moderated by Cornerstones CEO Shannon Steene, the panel brought together experts from Feeding America, Capital Area Food Bank, Wegmans, Misener Innovation, and Cornerstones. Weighty challenges inspired bold ideas, with innovation and partnership at the heart of the conversation.

Each panelist contributed invaluable insights into the issue of hunger in our region—and offered bold new ideas for innovating our way toward greater food security throughout the DMV.
